Moore & Hofman were successors to Schmitz, Moore & Co. Operating from 1915 until 1922. Cushion shape with gently rounded corners. Hand hammered cover with bold geometric incised borders and marvelous “Japanese” script monogram. Spring assist p ush-tab opening on a flush seven-knuckle hinge. Spring-loaded pierced bar secures contents against snailed wall. Back edge stamped “STERLING” “8” and carrying conjoined initials MH of the maker. The condition of this nearly century old case is nothing short of astounding. 4.2″ wide to push-tab, 3.3″ deep, 0.5 thick. 106.2 grams or 3.4 troy ounces.
