Antique / Vintage red leather case with what feels like silk and velvet lining. Listing as unknown because I have not been able to positively identify the case. Other collectors think it could be for a WWI US medal, WWII German medal or badge, or even a pocket watch from the same time periods. I have found similar red cases used with US medals, and have found red German cases that use a very similar hinge and latches – identical construction in different shapes. I have also seen US medals with German made cases like this one. I think this is most likely for a German badge, but I have not seen an identical case anywhere online. The latch works but it is tough to close the case tight. The damage on top of the lid looks to be where a sticker or tape was applied at some point. Photographed in natural daylight. Photos may not accurately represent actual colors. Photos are of actual items you will receive. Please see photos for condition. I can send more photos if needed. Please keep an eye on my other listings to see more rare patches, helmets, and other military collectibles for sale. If you need more pictures, just ask.

United States Bronze Star Medal in case. Stitched ribbon slot broach pin attachment. This is the smaller hard to find Navy version of the “coffin” style case that was typically ww2 produced. Also, named on back of the Bronze Star to: Daniel J. Most likely 1940s-1950s (ww2-Korea) era. For American medal cases, the U. “Coffin” style cases were ww2 produced. However, the “coffin” style cases/boxes were used right up to and through the Vietnam conflict as supplies of the medal boxes were used up (so you can find WW2, Korea, and Vietnam era medals in this style of case). Next, clear plastic cases/boxes were used in the 1950’s and 60’s (typically you see Vietnam era medals in these cases). The clear plastic cases were followed up by the dark blue vinyl-type grained textured cases/boxes with the metal rims which were utilized in the 1970’s follow up by dark blue vinyl-type smooth covered cases with metal rims. After that, there were blue vinyl-type smooth covered cases without metal rims. Finally small hard shell plastic blue cases were introduced.

Group of ten genuine vintage empty WWII Dist. Flying Cross vintage case box in used condition. Cases are in used condition and have imperfections which is common for these 75+ year old cases. See scans for condition so you can judge for yourself. This is for the cases only. These continue to get harder to find. Scan shows the case. You are just getting the case. NO MEDAL, RIBBON OR LAPEL PIN. Type scan may be enlarged to show detail. Anything less, even a 4, hurts my business, my family, and leads to higher costs. Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.
