Beautiful RUSSIAN SILVER CIGARETTE CASE St. Petersburg late 1800s BAG mono box

Gorgeous rectangular case with smoothly curved edges. Simple diagonal groove design with an engraved BAG monogram. Approximately 163 grams total weight. The interior length on the long side is 9.5 cm (the length of cigarettes it will hold). My research indicates the combined standard and town mark in an oval, as this case has, was used between 1882 and 1899 and indicates Saint Petersburg. Perhaps it is difficult to see but the 84 is followed by an asterisk-looking mark in an oval. The other side of the case has poorly stamped marks that look like another combined mark and an unreadable one. A couple of other notes if you’d like to read them: Our home is smoke free and pet free. That said, it doesn’t mean that the items I sell have never had a passing relationship with some sort of odor. If I notice it I will state it in the description. If you can smell someone in Wyoming light a cigarette while you are driving east across Tennessee, you might notice an odor I don’t. I have actually had someone ask if I could certify that the box, tape and packing material I use were odor free (I can’t). I do the best I can to honestly describe what I sell. I will be happy to answer questions to the best of my ability.
